You cannot install it like a normal font. Use the Registry method (Part 3) to map the alias to an installed TrueType font.
If SFC and DISM fail to restore Tahoma, download the official Microsoft font pack from Microsoft:
For enterprise users: Obtain the original tahoma.ttf from your company’s volume license media or Windows Server installation.
After restoring the Registry and physical fonts, restart your computer. Open the problematic application—the dialog boxes should now render correctly.
If you have a legitimate backup copy of tahoma.ttf and tahomabd.ttf:
After installation, open Registry Editor and confirm that HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts contains entries for Tahoma (TrueType) pointing to tahoma.ttf.
