Absolutely. Wall-E is a silent film for the first act, but it is a linguistic film for the finale. To truly appreciate the villainy of AUTO (the autopilot) or the innocence of Wall-E, you need to understand every word.

This paper examines how the Indonesian subtitle translation ("Sub Indo") of Pixar’s WALL-E (2008) negotiates the film’s minimalist dialogue, environmental themes, and emotional cues. Given that WALL-E relies heavily on visual storytelling and robotic sounds rather than dense verbal language, subtitling poses unique challenges. This study analyzes specific scenes where cultural references, humor, and critical thematic terms (e.g., "directive," "plant," "Axiom") are translated into Indonesian. Findings suggest that while Sub Indo preserves narrative clarity, certain nuances of satire regarding consumerism and loneliness are partially neutralized due to linguistic constraints.
Copyright Status: WALL-E is a copyrighted commercial film. Unauthorized distribution (downloading from piracy sites) is illegal under Indonesian copyright laws (UU HCIE).
