Problem: My CHD file is recognized, but the screen is black. Solution: You are using the wrong BIOS. Japanese games often check the console region. Rename your BIOS to Japan SCPH-5500.bin or ensure DuckStation's "Region" is set to "Auto" or "Japan." Final Fantasy VII International (Japan) – 3 discs

Problem: The audio is distorted in Vib-Ribbon. Solution: CHD compression is lossless, but audio synchronization errors occur if you converted a damaged CUE file. Use chdman verify on your CHD. If errors appear, re-rip the game. | Format | Size | Subchannel | Emulator

Problem: I have a .CCD/.IMG (CloneCD) rip of a Japanese game. Solution: CHD does not natively support CCD subchannel data, but for 99% of PSX games, subchannel data is not needed for gameplay (only for anti-piracy like LibCrypt). Convert the IMG to BIN/CUE first using ISOBuster, then to CHD.

The CHD format utilizes lossless compression algorithms (zlib and LZMA). For PlayStation games, which often have large amounts of dummy data to push data to the faster outer edge of the disc, CHD works magic.
