Opel’s implementation of SPS Online allows independent garages to purchase a subscription (usually time-based, e.g., 24-hour access) to perform the same level of ECU reprogramming as a franchised Opel dealer. This democratizes repair capability but requires the user to possess a compatible J2534 interface device.

The increasing integration with Techline Connect (successor to SPS for global GM) suggests that standalone SPS may eventually be phased out in favor of a unified GM diagnostic platform.
To successfully perform online programming, you need a specific toolset. You cannot use a generic $10 ELM327 dongle for this task.
