Testing the connection:

Symptoms: "The digital signature for this driver cannot be verified."
Fix: You must permanently disable Secure Boot in your BIOS or use the temporary F7 method described above. Alternatively, use a Windows 7 virtual machine.
Symptoms: The driver shows as "MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM" but disappears after 2 seconds.
