Hackers love MEGA because it supports large files and encrypted archives. A typical trap:

  • Create a small metadata file (JSON) containing:
  • Upload the encrypted blob to Mega.nz:
  • (Alternative) Paste the encrypted blob into an ephemeral pastebin (set to expire) and share that link instead of Mega.
  • Transmit the decryption key and any metadata securely to recipients.
  • Recipient downloads the encrypted file/blob and decrypts locally using the agreed tool and key.
  • After confirmed receipt, revoke the Mega share or delete the file if no longer needed.
