As this is legacy software, its requirements are modest by modern standards but specific regarding operating systems.
MaxSea is a professional marine navigation software platform developed by MaxSea International (now part of the Teledyne FLIR group after acquisition in 2016). It is widely used by commercial fishermen, workboats, superyachts, and some cruisers. Unlike recreational software (e.g., Navionics, iNavX), MaxSea is designed for heavy-duty routing, weather integration, and professional-grade planning.
MaxSea TimeZero (TZ) is the modern version of the software, using "TimeZero" technology for real-time rendering, smooth pan/zoom, and immediate weather overlay updates.
Version 12.6 (often referred to as "MaxSea 126") is a specific release from the v12 generation. As of my knowledge cutoff (May 2025), later versions exist (v13, v14), but v12.6 remains widely used due to stability and specific hardware requirements.
Distress: If immediate danger, use Channel 16 voice: “Mayday, Mayday, Mayday” — give vessel name, position, nature of distress, number of people on board, and type of assistance needed. If DSC-equipped, activate DSC distress and follow voice call.
The latest v12.6 service pack is 12.6.4.1 (released 2018). Obtain from MaxSea’s legacy FTP or dealer. Apply after base install.
