GOG Galaxy is a launcher developed by CD Projekt (the creators of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher). Unlike Steam or Epic Games, GOG Galaxy is built around DRM-free gaming. However, to integrate with games that were not originally purchased on GOG, GOG Galaxy uses "integration plugins."
Galaxywrp.dll is specific to the Uplay (now Ubisoft Connect) integration. When you connect your Ubisoft account to GOG Galaxy, the launcher downloads Galaxywrp.dll to read the local save files and achievements from Ubisoft games (like Assassin’s Creed or Far Cry) and "wrap" them into the GOG ecosystem.
Without this DLL, your Ubisoft games would appear as "external executables" without any overlay or tracking features.
Several space combat and trading simulators from the early-to-mid 2000s—especially those with "Galaxy" in their title or those built on custom engines—used wrapper DLLs to manage unusual display modes, windowed full-screen toggles, or multi-monitor setups. The galaxywrp.dll file would intercept DirectDraw or Direct3D calls to apply resolution scaling or aspect ratio correction. Galaxywrp.dll
