After installation, drive to any large gas station (not rest areas) marked with a green hitchhiker icon on the GPS. Park near the bench or sign, honk your horn (default 'H'), and the passenger will walk to your truck. A prompt will appear: "Pick up Hitchhiker? [Enter]"
