Eclipse Avn-z04iw Change Language

Caution: Changing the region may affect radio frequencies (FM step intervals) and GPS map compatibility. Only do this if you understand the implications.

The Eclipse AVN-Z04iW typically comes with Japanese as the default language. To change it to English (or another available language):

  • Find Language Option – Inside System Settings, search for an option labeled:

  • Select Language – Tap 言語 and then choose: eclipse avn-z04iw change language

  • Confirm – Press OK or 決定 (Decision). The interface should switch immediately.

  • ⚠️ Note:
Some Eclipse AVN-Z04iW units are region-locked to Japanese and may not have English UI available unless a firmware update or modification (e.g., English patch or region change) has been applied. If you don’t see an English option, the language cannot be changed without hacking or replacing the firmware.

Sometimes, the language is so foreign that you cannot identify the settings icon at all. In this case, you can use a hardware-based factory reset or language reset sequence. This is known to work on many Eclipse AVN series units, including the Z04iW. Caution: Changing the region may affect radio frequencies

The AVN-Z04IW was manufactured exclusively for the Japanese market. The operating system is hard-coded to display Japanese characters (Kanji, Hiragana, Katakana). In the standard user interface:

Voice Guidance: The voice navigation guidance is also pre-installed in Japanese only. There is no secondary language pack installed on the hard drive to switch to.

  • A confirmation popup may appear:

  • If you are looking for a simple settings menu to switch the language from Japanese to English (or another language), you will likely not find one.

The Eclipse AVN-Z04IW is a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) specific head unit. Unlike international versions of Eclipse (Fujitsu Ten) units, the Z04IW firmware is region-locked. Here is the detailed breakdown of why this is difficult and what your options are.
