When looking for a PDF with "extra quality," it's essential to ensure you're downloading from a reputable source to avoid any potential issues with malware or obtaining an outdated or incorrect version of the standard. Here are a few tips:

DIN 7161 does not just cover straight lines. For angles where no specific tolerance is given, the standard permits deviations based on the shortest leg length of the angle. For "Medium" quality, a 100mm leg allows roughly ±0.5 degrees.

From a Quality Control (QC) perspective, DIN 7161 is invaluable.


DIN 7161, officially titled "Deviations and tolerances for linear dimensions without individual tolerance indications," is a critical German standard (Deutsches Institut für Normung) that defines general tolerances for linear and angular dimensions that do not have specific tolerance values written on the drawing.

Put simply: When a designer forgets to put a tolerance on a hole or a shaft, DIN 7161 tells the machinist what is acceptable.

Official Beuth or DIN Media PDFs have a subtle "DIN Media" watermark or metadata. Extra quality usually implies a digital-born PDF (from a CAD plugin export) or a professionally descreened scan.
