Take the wires you disconnected earlier and solder them to the new volume control. Ensure they're securely attached and not touching any other components.
With the old encoder removed:

If you cannot find a replacement pod, you have to open the existing one and solder in a new encoder. Take the wires you disconnected earlier and solder
