Simulation lag can come from:

After cleaning, reinstall CoolSPEAR fresh.

Why search for "full"? Because the Lite version is bundled with some mod managers. The full version is the one that stops the 5-second freezes on a 10-GB mod folder.

Most players mistake simulation lag for graphics lag. The Coolspear guide explicitly tells you to increase certain settings, not decrease them.

| Wrong Fix (makes lag worse) | Correct Coolspear Fix | | :--- | :--- | | Lowering graphics quality | Increase graphics quality to shift load from CPU to GPU | | Turning off V-Sync | Enable "Fast Sync" or "Enhanced Sync" (not classic V-Sync) | | Lowering object detail | Raise object detail but lower shadow resolution | | Reducing resolution | Raise resolution to 1440p or 4K (reduces CPU bottleneck) |

The logic: If your CPU is at 100% and GPU at 60%, simulation lags. By raising graphics, the GPU goes to 99%, and the CPU drops to 80%—eliminating the CPU bottleneck.

If nothing works, remove CoolSPEAR and use Outer Planets Mod (OPM) lighting or Softerhaze’s Sunblind 2.0 — less lag, similar visuals.

In Process Lasso, set your game’s priority to High (not Real-Time unless you have a very stable system). Real-time can make your mouse and keyboard unresponsive.
