Downloading a copyrighted textbook from a torrent site or file-sharing forum is illegal. Furthermore, it is dangerous. Many sites offering the "Building and Structural Construction N6 textbook" are riddled with malware, outdated editions (using obsolete building codes), or incomplete scanned copies missing crucial pages (like the appendix with steel tables).
The Risk: Using an outdated PDF can cause you to fail. Building codes (SANS 10400) and structural design methods (Limit State vs. Working Stress) change. If your PDF uses the 1990 code, but your exam uses 2010 standards, you will lose marks.
Most TVET Colleges (like False Bay College, Tshwane North College, or Coastal KZN TVET College) have a physical copy of the textbook in their library. You can legally scan chapters for personal use (fair use policy). Create your own PDF chapter by chapter using a phone scanner app (Adobe Scan or Microsoft Lens).
Visit the official Pearson South Africa website or the VitalSource Bookshelf. You can purchase a digital license for the textbook. This is a legal PDF (usually encrypted) that you can read on your phone, laptop, or tablet.

While not yet widely available, the current Building and Structural Construction N6 textbook PDF is still far superior to a scanned, low-quality copy.
