For high-strength steel parts, hydrogen embrittlement is a catastrophic risk. CQI-11 requires specific controls and baking procedures to relieve hydrogen induced during the plating process, preventing part fracture later in service.


Plating is an electrochemical process. CQI-11 mandates that rectifiers (power supplies) be calibrated and maintained. Auditors look for evidence that the amperage and voltage used match the technical data sheet for the part being plated.
